First Sermon Of Lord Buddha

After achieving enlightenment, Buddha gave his first sermon in the deer park at Sarnath, near modern day Varanasi. The 4th day of the sixth month in lunar calendar marks this auspicious occasion. In Bhutan, it called or observed as Drukpa Tshezhi. This is considered as one of the most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar. The day venerates the first teachings of the Four Noble Truths (Turning of the Dharma), when Buddha was 35 years old.
